Protocol Releases & Platform Updates

Blockdaemon is proud to support SKALE and is accepting delegations. Send us a note if you would like to stake with us! We are launching dozens of nodes to optimize return for all investors. Our nodes are instrumented with comprehensive monitoring and have alerting to ensure that we maintain uptime, just like every other protocol we support.Additionally, our nodes leverage our experience with SGX technology to provide maximum performance.

Contact us if you have a large balance to stake (>20M SKALE), or simply want to delegate and we will help you participate!

Keep allows developers to use Bitcoin safely in Ethereum DeFi. tBTC’s developers have developed a solution that best utilizes the respective strengths of BTC and ETH to deliver a new product. tBTC makes it possible to safely and transparently use Bitcoin to act on Ethereum: tBTC lets you receive rewards with your BTC in 3 simple steps. tBTC, an ERC-20 token fully backed by BTC, can help alleviate uncertainty for first-time DeFi users. The token, currently live on the Ropsten testnet, allows people for the first time to safely use BTC on the Ethereum blockchain. Currently if you have KEEP+ETH, you can stake now.

The Near protocol is now community-run and is working through votes to transition fully to community governance. These votes will enable transfers and block rewards, among other things. That means it’s a great time to get involved and be at the forefront of the new protocol as it’s launching. If you’d like to have a validator on Near, we are fully supporting the protocol and will have white-glove service available for those who wish to validate.

Reach out and let us know if you would like to participate!

Connecting to Your Node

Blockdaemon begun the first of a series of many updates to improve visibility into your node and how to use it. On the card for your nodes - shared or dedicated - you will now see a collapsible “Connection Info” section. This section has a command you can paste into a terminal window which will query your node, and give you a quick path to getting started with your node. Additionally, the curl command shows how to pass authentication information in the request header instead of the request path, which makes hitting additional endpoints much easier and less prone to error. We show as many endpoints as we can for each node.

If you would like to see more options, please reach out to our customer support team and we’d be happy to expose additional APIs in the UI.

With all of the networks launching, we’ve also seen a renewed interest in Ethereum nodes and capabilities. We’re expanding and improving our stock offerings, as well as digging deeper into archival and tracing configurations across multiple clients. Currently we have support available for archival and tracing nodes in Geth and Parity (aka OpenEthereum) clients. Additionally if you have interest in TurboGeth or Besu, we’d love to hear about it and help.

If you’ve been wanting to have an archive node with tracing capability but didn’t want to take on the complexity or the lengthy sync times, contact us.

Ubiquity Pilot Program is Open!

Blockdaemon’s Ubiquity API is entering a pilot program this month as we prep it for general availability. What is the Ubiquity API? It’s a standard API that can retrieve information about activity on supported protocols. You can inspect blocks, transactions, and get information about addresses. Additionally, the pilot program will have support for websocket connections. Documentation is accessible in-app via the “Ubiquity” link in the header. Initial support includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, Stellar and XRP, with more coming in Q4.

If you’re interested in participating in the pilot program and supplying feedback, we’d love to have you aboard - just reach out to customer support!
