This month's newsletter features a bullish recap of Devcon Bangkok, a presentation on institutional due diligence regarding Eth staking risks and their mitigations, and changes for ETH stakers expected with the upcoming Pectra upgrade.

Blockdaemon Optimized ETH Staking Rewards

As the MEV ecosystem changes, staking providers constantly need to adopt their infrastructure to enable customers to earn best in class staking rewards on Ethereum. Blockdaemon continues to invest a lot of resources to optimize our block proposal latency. And this while still satisfying regulatory requirements for our customers by only connecting to OFAC-compliant relays. See for yourself and stake with us today!

A Bullish Recap Of Devcon Bangkok

The Ethereum Foundation’s official recap blog gives you a great glimpse into how important and successful Devcon 7 in Bangkok was. It also provides a good selection of keynote recordings of the various topic tracks for you to enjoy.

Perhaps Justin Drake’s Beam Chain presentation created the biggest buzz. Many had previously misunderstood his 5 year timeline. So, at the Bankless Summit after Devcon, he filled the roadmap slide with all the intermediate steps regarding the data and execution layer respectively.

Blockdaemon, alongside SCB 10X, Haven1, Bitazza, Baboon VC, CoinGecko, EthGAS, Chaos Labs, and the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance, had the privilege of sharing insights and engaging with leading voices in Bangkok as well, as part of the almost 1000 side events around Devcon.

"It's NOT About Slashing!"

While attending Devcon in Bangkok, I presented on the topic of institutional due diligence, regarding Eth staking risks and their mitigations, at D1Conf. As the title suggests, “It's NOT about slashing!” Slashings are rare - and the upcoming Pectra fork makes them cheap.

The real danger lies in correlation penalties. These can be mitigated via Distributed Validators (DVs), client diversity, and geographical and provider diversity. Looking for the bare-metal advantage is just one of the recommendations about what to look for in an institutional staking provider.

Pectra Upgrade - Changes For ETH Stakers

With Ethereum’s upcoming hard fork Pectra planned for late Q1 2025, Blockdaemon is already preparing to support our customers through the upgrade.

To begin, read our high-level introduction about the Pectra changes for $ETH stakers in our blog. We also started an FAQ on our dedicated Pectra resource page, which includes our recent Pectra webinar with Alluvial.

Liquidity needs are central to the question of which type and size of validators customers should choose going forward. We will provide further guidance on this in the new year, but feel free to discuss the right strategy setup for your liquidity needs with us today!
