Blockdaemon is the Total Node Management Solution
Blockdaemon guarantees peace of mind, as you never have to worry about maintaining or upgrading your nodes ever again — we look after all of that for you. Our finger is constantly on the pulse of each blockchain we support to ensure all of our nodes remain perfectly healthy. Our extensive experience across protocols lets us expertly monitor, repair and replace nodes where protocol level errors may occur. For any protocol updates needed, we look after these in advance so you never see any disruption in service.
Enterprise Level Security
Security is our top priority here at Blockdaemon. All nodes purchased through us are 100% customer dedicated. This means your node is yours exclusively. You’ll enjoy a dedicated node which has a unique address, its own unique connection and authentication key. Furthermore, these are never reused. We ensure your node is not open and exposed to anyone on the internet. Any nodes you’d like to add on additionally can be done so quickly and easily as well!
A Trusted Partner
Blockdaemon is by your side on your blockchain journey. We are the only infrastructure platform for blockchain nodes which offer multi-cloud and multi-geographical support, with just a few clicks. Want custom configurations and branded experiences? No problem, we provide a unified, whole-org, collaborative rollout to manage a complete network. Whatever your needs, we will work closely with you to deliver the solution you need.
Substrate, Polkadot’s underlying technology, allows anyone to build their own blockchain to be interoperable with other blockchains built on Polkadot. These individual blockchains are known as parachain. Any Substrate parachain is natively compatible with Polkadot, allowing data and value to be transferred seamlessly between blockchains. These chains can also link with external networks such as Ethereum and Bitcoin through bridges.
Polkadot uses nominated proof-of-stake to achieve consensus. Validators are responsible for securing the main Polkadot Relay Chain, which is at the heart of connecting all parachains together. This guarantees aggregate, shared security, providing consensus for the entire platform.
Voting on Polkadot protocol upgrades takes place via. on-chain voting. However, custom rules can be created for any parachain launched using Polkadot. Substrate allows bespoke functionality to be baked into any blockchain launched using it.
Blockchain Package Manager (BPM) for Polkadot
BPM provides tools and packages to run blockchain nodes on your own infrastructure using a unified simple command line interface to deploy, maintain, monitor, and upgrade nodes. With BPM, teams can deploy blockchain nodes anywhere, enabling easy management - including scripting and automation. Find out more in the BPM QuickStart guide to get a sense of how it works, or dive right into the CLI docs.
Substrate API Sidecar Available
Any full node can be equipped with the API Sidecar, allowing users to fetch fully decoded blocks, get the balance of an address atomically (i.e. with a corresponding block number), get the chain's metadata, get a transaction fee prediction and information needed for auditing, and submit transactions to a node's transaction queue.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Polkadot’s nominated proof of stake?
Nominated proof of stake (NPoS) is different from standard PoS networks as validators are nominated to mint blocks. Nominators (DOT token holders) do this by publishing a list of validator candidates that they trust, and putting down an amount of DOT at stake to support them. By nominating a successfully elected validator, the nominator receives a share of the rewards given to the validator for performing their work. Unlike traditional PoS systems, Polkadot grants validators equal voting power in consensus. This means that no party is overrepresented or underrepresented, proportional to their stake.
What are the rewards from participating in Polkadot?
Successfully elected validators, upon completing their work, receive a service fee (validator fee), with the remaining rewards distributed to their nominators (those who delegated to the validator). Rewards are automatically distributed.
What are the risks of staking?
Those acting as validators enable transactions across parachains by adding new blocks to the main Relay Chain. They ensure the information contained in blocks is valid. The only risk that exists is a validator not complying with the consensus algorithms, removing a portion of the validator’s DOT. This incentivizes good performance. Validators are elected a couple of times per day.
