SKALE’s Network offers different performance for different sized chains. Recent demos highlighted that for medium sized SKALE chains, 16 nodes distributed in the cloud deliver 2 blocks per second, with 100 transactions per second. A large SKALE chain is shown to deliver 1,600 transactions per second, running consensus on 16 powerful machines.
Secure Validator Nodes
All of our nodes — from our public validator node to dedicated deployments — follow best practices to be responsible members of the network, keeping our nodes running and participating in network consensus. Validators stake SKALE into the network and then gain the right to run nodes and earn both fees and tokens via inflation. Delegators may delegate their tokens to validators and earn rewards.

Staking occurs with validators and delegators each playing a role in the SKALE network. Delegation happens when SKL token holders provide their tokens to validators in return for a portion of validator rewards. Nodes monitor how each perform, and report on performance. Slashing can occur for poor performing nodes and any adversarial behaviour.
SKALE’s Proof of Stake system uses a pooled set of validators, in conjunction with random node selection and frequent node rotation. Node rotation is paid out of the rewards validators get from the blockchain. Node rotation is initiated by SKALE smart contracts on mainnet.
